X GAMES VIII - Philadelphia, PA 

THE MEN
The crowd was huge and they had a lot to cheer about.  After some impressive performances
in the prelims, Danny Harf, Daren Shapiro, Shawn Murray, Parks Bonifay, Erick Ruck, Chad
Sharp, Trevor Hansen and Brett Eisenhauer competed for the goods in the finals. The first 
few riders, Erick , Trevor, Chad and Brett had average runs, using the slider and the fun box
for some good, all around riding.  Then the games began!  Parks took it to the slider bustin' a 
nice 360 on his return to the water.  He then plays with the fun box, transferring up to the upper 
rail.  He included a huge tootsie roll, air krypt and off axis 5.  Then Shawn Murray comes out.
Throwin' down some off the biggest air yet!  It makes you wanna go and do it yourself.  He did his
off axis 5 using the kicker for a little extra height!  Shawn was sitting pretty but with 2 more riders 
to go, there were no guarantees.  As usual, Darin Shapiro put on a solid performance, nailing
everyone of his tricks including a 900.  This man attacks the wake like no one!  By the way, when
you see him next time, tell him he's gettin' smaller!  With Danny Harf still on the dock, Darin was 
looking at gold.  But then Danny comes out with his best performance in competition.  He nailed
everything.  He took it higher than anyone and made it look like fun.  Then to top things off he 
throws down a huge front somersault off the double up.  GOLD!!  Darin and Shawn had to settle
for Silver and Bronze, respectively.

THE WOMEN
It's gettin hot in here, take off all your clothes!  Besides the fact that Philly has seen one of the
hottest summers in its history, the ladies of wakeboarding turned the heat up another notch!  I've
watched several professional watersports events and I have never seen the ladies perform like they
did today.  Emily, Dallas, Leslie, Tara, Buster, Meaghan, Megan McNeil and Melissa Marquardt all 
should be proud!  They proved to everyone that they can let it all hang out too!  After having a few 
problems in practice, Leslie Kent was able to have two stand up runs and a clean double up to take
the Bronze.  After watching Dallas Friday do her thing, I thought she had it all locked up.  But it wasn't
meant to be.  Emily watched Dallas from the dock and knew she would have to step it up.  Without 
thinking twice she took a walk in the park and took the Gold from Dallas' hands.  A disappointed Dallas
took home the silver.  All and all, the girlz made an impressive showing!

All of your wakeboard boats are available with a tower.  They don't offer an extended pylon (pole). Why?  It's very 
simple.  Towers don't have a tendency to roll the boat from side to side when getting that huge cut.  They are also
very rigid and don't flex, allowing the rope to load up so you can fly higher and further or spin and flip faster.  Lastly,
how can you hang speakers AND boards AND lights on a pole?  The tower's width allows you to hang all of these 
things and you can even hang yourself!! (Not recommended)
